March Weather

The other day it was BEAUTIFUL here! I got out of work a little earlier, picked the boys up and headed to the park for some fun in the sun. Neither really wanted to leave, but eventually we did need to go get some supper. I sure hope this wonderful weather will continue (as it has been a little cooler lately, but nothing compared to the snow storms we could be having)!

Gymnastics

We started both boys in gymnastics this last session, thinking a little indoor gym time would benefit them both. This is Little's first go at it, and he's not 100% sure of it yet. Both boys sessions are during the same time (which is the only way to go). Big is now old enough that he is in the Tumble Tots group (which is sans parents). The first class he wasn't not sure he wanted to go back. He told me he wanted to be 6. (He continued to pick different ages in hopes of finding one that would allow him to be in the Parent Tot class, no such luck little buddy). Last week we learned that there was a girl named Isabella (his favorite character on Phineas and Ferb). So this week when we went he marched right into his room and started asking if Isabella was there. :) Unfortunately I won't have many photos from his session as the work in a room upstairs and the only way to watch them is on a TV outside the room.

Little I may have a few more photos for, but he is not that into having his photo taken. Plus he isn't comfortable enough to let me move away from him long enough to snap one. So we'll see how the session progresses.

Frozen Yogart

The other day we had a few errands to run after work. Generally this can end in disaster as by the time we get home, the boys are tired, sometimes hungry (depending on what we eat when we're out and about) and just want to play. They were so good while we did our errands that both Chris and I thought a trip to Cherry Berry for some frozen yogurt would be a great treat!

We always let Big pick out what he wants (ice cream flavors and toppings), and then we just let Little mooch off of ours as he won't eat an entire serving. He is usually all about climbing on the fun chairs and couches they have there instead!

Tonight was no exception to that!

Big did great and ate most of his ice cream. Daddy was on hand to finish the rest!

Lego cookies

The beginning of March was my oldest brothers birthday. He has always loved Legos! As he is in his 30's and I can't really buy him Legos for his birthday, I decided to make him some Lego cookies.

I have been following a cookie blog The Adventures of Sweet Sugar Belle and not to long ago she showed how to make these Lego cookies. When I saw them I knew I needed to try my hand at them and send them to my brother.

There is definite room for improvement, but for a first attempt at cookie decorating, I am quite pleased with them.

SPRING

Today is officially the first day of spring. For ND we are having an unseasonably WARM Spring, but we are not complaining. There is no snow left, so as you can see from these photos, they are a little over a week old.

The other weekend it was so nice we had to get outside! Last year I picked up 2 squirt bottles in some stores dollar section (probably Target, but I can't remember), and those have been the prize toy outside for the last week. The boys have loved watering the "grass", the side of the house, washing the cars and anything else they I will let them squirt water at.

We also took a walk around the block. Little insisted on pushing the bubble mower, which was fine and I fully anticipated carrying it most of the way. To my surprise he pushed it the entire way! Big was the one who ended up hopping in the stroller a few times to ride.

Bubbles have also been a big winner outside for the boys. I think there was one day last week that they were both soaked in bubbles! We made sure that night was bath night!

My parents were up and while Little napped they were outside with Big and built this cute little snowman. (The only one of the season). He didn't last long though and not because he was melting!

You may have also noticed that the name of my blog has changed from "The Game of Life" to "Home Grown". I'm working on some branding currently and didn't think the The Game of Life would fly later on as it is already taken.

Big's 3 Year Photos

I recently took Big in for his 3 year photo shoot. Being that he is now 3 1/2, I'm only a little behind on this. But better late than never. Below are just a few of my favorites from the shoot. He was a bit of a stinker right away, but thanks to some jelly beans and a bird puppet we were able to get him to smile!
